Applying for Benefits
To get help paying for food for you and your family, the Food and Nutrition Services Program can help!
The Food and Nutrition Services Program (FNS) provides assistance to households with limited income and resources. Limits are different, depending on the number and ages of persons in the home. The FNS benefit amount is based on the amount of income available to the household members who buy and cook their food together. Benefits cannot be used to purchase items such as detergents, paper products, tobacco products, or alcoholic beverages.
Applications for Food & Nutrition Services may be made Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Wallace H. Kuralt Centre located at 301 Billingsley Road or the Chapin Hall located at 3205 Freedom Dr. Applicants are seen in the order of arrival.
While some people with certain drug offenses are ineligible to receive benefits, family members are not ineligible.
